  • I agree,it sounds like a stupid idea.I hope in China it is only an option, and becomes unpopular. .Chipping anyone, children or adult is an affront to ones privacy.First of all who is tracking the GPS ,most likely not just the parent.Things like this start out as innocent in the beginning then they are manditory, then one day adults will be on GPS.They are already in some new vehicles.
  • Not my child. His playmates can become little beacons to the state, but I think I'll be the parent to my child.
  • It's scary stuff alright.
  • I think it's a great idea--when YOUR child is lost or kidnapped you'll think so too. I would "chip" my dog too.
  • I think GPS 'tracking' implants are a terrible idea and one that I would fight against. However, I did a search for articles about this being done in China or Europe and came up with nothing. If there is any evidence that this is actually being done or planned, I would like to see it.
  • Excellent idea. I'm not worried about privacythe chips can be turned off, the receiving station can be unique. the most careful parent still loses his or her child. It's ugly, but it happens. I say, Sense over Hypothetical Philosophy.
  • There are parents in this country that invade the privacy of their children every day..they snoop through drawers, check out computer activity, bug the car, follow their kids to see where they are going..so I'm fairly certain the U.S. parents who already are doing these things will jump on this bandwagon as soon as these chipping devices are available in this country! :(
  • No not really - unless the kid is on their own - the parents are responsible for their kids so they should have that right
  • If the chips were capable of more, and this world was a more secure place then certainly. I personally think it is the inevitable future and we will one day have "credits" that are stored and accessed via chips in our arms. Seems much more efficient than carrying a wallet around. Never forget your ID, anything, granted with it you beget much easier stolen identities. However chipping your children may be wise, as bad as the world out there is, it may just save their life, however, it may also harm them if their captors cut the chip out.
  • If it could be used in a way were it was left dormant ,but if your child went missing then it could be activated in order to locate the missing child i think then it could be a good idea it would save alot of heartache.
  • My sources tell me the GPS chips aren't to be used the way described above AT ALL: Here is the device: http://www.madeinchina.com/2700574/P5136508/GPS-Children-Tracker.shtml
  • It should be optional, there are plenty of pros and con’s and should be the parent’s personal preference. I would get my daughter chipped if I could that way I may know when she is if something ever happens. As for her privacy she’s not into anything that important to be worrying about people knowing what she is doing. I’ve heard soldiers in Iraq were chipped unwillingly when they got their immunizations before going to Iraq, has anyone else heard of this?
  • It should be an option. Why not? As long as its position is given to the parents of that child/that child when he/she turns 18 and ONLY to them (otherwise it would be pointless) so it can be removed if wanted then I see nothing wrong with this. Would I do it? No. Why not? Well, what is to stop as potential kidnapper from using some kind of GPS scanner to locate the device and simply cut it out? Yes it will gie the police a bit of time to track down the child, but a skilled kiddnapper would remove it and move so it would be kind of pointless.
  • I think they should chip pedos as well as children at least then if your child has gone missing then you can see the nearest pedo. But it should be optional for parents and as a parent I would defiantly have it done.
  • yeah, it's invading their kids' privacy. It should ONLY, and this is extremely important, be done IF the kids agree to it! In which european countries is this being considered? I haven't heard about it before
  • Escape from NY time!
  • The implants cause cancer, even in dogs (Home Again, anyone?). It will never go through here.
  • its not gonna happen in europe, at least not in spain.
  • Cite your source, please. Obviously this would be bad, but I'll believe it when I see it. As stands, I call hoax.

  • Thats horrible.
  • Next it will be a tattoo with 666 on the forehead, or a chip. Never in a milion years will I agree to this. I am not a deeply religious person but, I do remember the wise saying this will not be a good thing.
  • Fact from fiction, truth from diction, this society infringes on people's privacy all the time. Usually those society doesn't care about or is scared of. When we thought the big bad terrorist were about to get us people turned the other way to warrant-less wire taps, sneak and peak searches. When we thought the sexual boogie men were going to snatch our kids we want to GPS them. If it is pointless to chip your kid, it is pointless to GPS them. If one decides to go “off the reservation” and disable his device you may eventually find him but only after some other child becomes a victim. What if the child wonders away from camp during the summer? Kids always go off exploring in places they are not suppose to. You can find them if they are hurt down a dutch or wherever. Hacking? Poppycock, when have you heard someone hack the Pentagon and got launch codes or redeployed jet fighters? The chip can be there dormant, when the child goes missing like a safety deposit box or the missile launch codes it would take TWO sets of code, one the parent/guardian has, and the other by the authorities. The child can NEVER be spied on. To say you would err on having no potential for the child to be spied on over safety and finding them as soon as possible when missing is the hight of hypocrisy. Every kid under 18 should have one like an immunization.
  • I see it as communist rule and would not allow it in my world at all.
  • i know they do this in the city schools in MD and VA. Student's carry a card that they have to scan when they get on and off the bus, and when they go in and out of the school, so they can keep track of the students, also there's so much crime this REALLY helps to find out who's done what. Now i don't agree with microchipping kids so adults know where their kid is 24/7.
  • umm... YEAH! what kind of person would chip their childern? but, the only reason i say that is because i dont want my parents kknowing where i am at all times. then they could just pop up unexpectedly! who ellse thinks this would totally SUCK!
  • no. the only people it would be "bad" for would be those that are lying, and doing things they shouldnt be doing. i dont see anything wrong with it.
  • That is a really bad idea.
