512MB DDR2 in my opinion would be better. The speed difference between DDr2 and DDr3 in reailty doesnt make a lot of difference. Having double the memory - espicially for newer games makes a hge difference at higher resolutions.

ddr3, but you may need pcie x16 2.0 to use it

ddr2 is better because it has more dedicated memory for extensive graphics and gaming.:))

DDR3 bcuz its speed difference would give a boost in gaming.. Picture a 6 lane highway with a bad jam... and a 2 lane with ferraris going thru at top speed... by the way, is there a 8600 GT whit DDR2 memory?

Get the ddr3 basically because of the speed differce, You cant run the newer games on a 250mb graphics card.
