Plan on 800 to 1200 dollars a month for your apartment, depending on location and taste. If you're commuting by bus, it's relatively cheap, 2.50 each way from Everett, a bit cheaper if you live closer in. If you're driving, try to live relatively close, highways get pretty nasty around rush hour. As far as food, 20 bucks will take care of you most of the time, unless you want to go someplace really classy. There are some places where you could spend more. I get by spending about 1500 dollars a month on expenses, living relatively frugally, and close to my job in Lynnwood. Washington doesn't have state income tax, so that makes your taxes a lot cheaper. Only have to deal with Federal Income tax. Not sure what that is for your tax bracket. I think you caould live very comfortably on 50k a year, and still save quite a bit. Good Luck...

because you're indian, i will take the liberty of saying that you are working for microsoft or some other tech-oriented company. hence, you're probably looking at redmond or sammamish, not seattle proper. but i don't know as much about the cities outside seattle, so i'll take your word for it and assume you really are coming to the emerald city. anyway, plan on spending upwards of $1100/month for a small apartment in downtown seattle. surprisingly, housing prices here are comparable to those of a much larger city, which is annoying. not sure what your tax bracket is buddy, that depends on what other stuff you have/do.
