  • Anime, even more than a lot of regular cartoons, and especially more than live action, is not limited to how people and things actually look. You can add so much style to the artistry, great form of expression for those who really know what they're doing
  • The Japanese think outside the box. Even when some shows start following a formula they are easily set apart from Western animation. A few shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park are all episodic, hilarious, and have a moral, but they are primarily for humour. Anime, especially good ones like Hellsing, Gundam, Elfen Lied, RahXephon, FullMetal Alchemist, Full Metal Panic, Desert Punk, Fate/Stay Night, and great movies like Princess Mononoke, Steamboy, Paprika and all the movies by Hayao Miyazaki - they all speak to the depths of humanity. They are complex, with complex characters, and can do things that Western animation and live action can't do (at least without looking cheesy or having a huge budget to avoid the cheese). Oh, and since they're not as politically correct (re: stupid) as we are, they aren't afraid to put all kinds of violence and gore on TV and all kinds of things that are just messed up.
  • Well, its just a a passion that i think every anime-fans have, well, it very captivating and i find it a masterpiece especially under Sunrise, Studio Ghibli(Hayao Miyazaki) and Clamp are a few examples of unique storylines, where i find it could really expand one person's mind towards certain object, and the drawings and characters that they created are not something that everyone could imagine or produce out ya. Demo, anime wa totemo suki dayo!!^^
  • Why do I like anime? Well, it's simple. In one of every twenty nine frames, the artist draw in a subliminal message which brainwashes the average person. The viewer becomes "mentally addicted" to this "mind drug," and, soon, anime becomes a daily and every hourly routine in our schedules. This is why anime sells so well, and this is also why I'm obsessed with anime.
  • The short answer is: I don't. There are a few select titles I've enjoyed; but by and large, anime enjoys a mystique far in excess of its actual ability to entertain or impress...
  • I dont i think it is pointless, but then again it is just a form of entertainment. I love harry potter because it takes me to a simpler world and it gives me a chance to forget my current worries/problems, because lets face it, we all have worries/problems....
  • I don't. I don't get what the appeal is, honestly. Why do YOU love Anime so much?
  • every anime has a message, even DBZ. it's a staple of anime for ppl or the characters to learn about life
  • Its fun, unique and also usually a very good story line goes with it.
  • Well, instead of watching Western TV shows, even though I live in a Westerny country, I've always been more into anime. I'm half-Japanese, which might also be why. And I've been exposed to anime since I was young (like, 2 or 3, maybe).
  • anime is just the thing for me.. "ANIME INOCHI"
  • it's just sooo cewl and addictive...
  • i watch anime since i'm 6... so... yeah...
  • The detail in the animation is what makes me like Anime.
  • The animation always has a unique style and it encompasses so many different genres. Time and attention has been paid to it.
  • Overactive brain functions which need a regular if not constant constant focus point. As well, my obsessive tendencies and hyperactive nature find it a comfortable medium of expression to get lost in. Otherwise, I'm just insane. I also write a lot.
  • ok anime porn or liek cartoons because i have a dif reason for each....
  • Cos its cool :-)
  • Most people see animtation as a children movie. I see it differently. We live in a world where you face difficulties, challanges and hardships throughout your life. Animation give me an escape from all this. You wish you could have powers, fight 50 guys at once, fly or dissapear complitely.. its cool!!!!

  • Because it takes you away from the real world and you forget about stuff going on...and its fun and some times relaxing....and cuz of the anime girls and fighiting scenes
  • I like anime sometimes when the titles are interesting and the storylines are interesting. i hate anime overall because of its sexual content and that mos tof the characters look smilar. I also follow anime books when they the story is good, most anime books portray the same old stories and its boring to read the same ones.
  • I have a simple answer. I dont. :)
  • they're addictive
  • because of individuals like hayao miyazaki.. who create amazing story lines and rich characters and colors on screen.. if you haven't seen princess mononoke (the highest grossing film in japan) or spirited away or howl's moving castle.. then you haven't seen anime at its best. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayao_Miyazaki
  • you make it sound like anime are all the same somehow. asking why someone likes anime is like asking someone why they like movies.
  • cuz dere are 2 types or cartoons....american and japanese ones with clear graphics and amazing stories
  • I don't get it, really...
  • I got interested in anime because its something different from the crap on tv. Cop and reality shows get old fast. There's also a range of different stories in anime unlike tv.
  • i dont really like those japenese shows but i do like how pretty the pictures are they are just draw so beautifully thats all i really like :)
  • Because it's different. Very different from what we have in western tv. For example, the good guy doesn't always win in anime, just often. A good example of this is Dragon Ball Z. I'm not sure how many main (and/or side) characters have died in all, nor how many times each of them had died. Another example (of the differences) would be Death Note as in it, there are no good guys (that are main characters) really.
  • Because American anime pretty much sucks. Though if I was looking for humor, I'd go for some Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, or Boondocks because I haven't seen any humorous anime, maybe accept for FLCL.
  • Anime is plot intensive, and that is something most other animation lacks. You get into the story, it's kind of like anime is the bastard child of cartoons and soap opera's. Only with more robots and hair. :)
  • i hate the crap !
  • I short, it's different from the U.S. fair. They take plots that would never fly in America and make them work. U.S. movies are just the same old thing with new actors playing the same old parts.
  • Generally, anime just looks better than Western animation.
  • For me it's because the animation is better than western shows, the story lines are better than most western shows, they're funnier than most western shows, and quite a few of them are more violent than western shows.
  • because its the best!
  • I love the details and the music for anime.
  • Seriously, anime isn't that bad. Some producers do the animation really nicely, whereas some just screw it up. It's fun and frankly quite addictive, so that might be a problem. But other than that i love the story lines of some!:)
  • The stories and character development. Go watch 'Grave of the Fireflies', now tell me you didn't bawl by the end. Now go watch Chrno Crusade and say you didn't feel like it was a close friend of yours dying at the end.
  • I love it for what it is. Some people want to see blood, gore and guts. Some, that perfect kiss to true love. Jet fighters fighting it out or spaceships fighting to the bitter end. Giant robots, first dates, Magical girls. Ghost, monsters, guns, ninja, samurai, musicals, car chases. It's all there. You name it, it there. But with a twist. Japan makes movies to there beliefs so the story ark is so much different than anyone else's films you never know what will happen.
  • I dont like anime but i like manga and only one of them Naruto
  • I'm with you happydonut12! You get to escape into an entire make believe world. In some shows, you actually learn a little history. What's the difference between those of us who like anime versus those addicted to soap operas? Isn't that just escapism as well?
  • I have watched a few hundred anime's and I love them because where else can you find a scene where a mecha head transforms into a big mecha who then combines with a massive ship who then combines into something else that is the size of a galaxy? Im referring to gurenn lagann by the way which I recently watched and it' a really cool anime. Normal films just can't even compare to what anime can achieve and there's so many titles to see that you will never be able to watch them all. I also always watch them in jap language with subs as the voice acting is really top notch, they put so much emotion into the voices that it puts dubs to shame.
  • I love anime because it gives me a story thats like a good book I can't stop watching. Its somethings breathtaking to look at and the story could shock the hell out of you.
  • Everything The art is beautiful and breathtaking (to be career) The stories always have a moral-a good meaning to them. People get fascinated by how it tells a story, the way emotions are flowing through the screen. Unlike american cartoons. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it leavs you hanging off the edge of your seat .. What is there not to like? It's addication. At least nerds dont take drugs and steal .. Were in the compfort of our computer screen in a safe house.
  • The complex characters and twisted plot.
  • It also takes the art medium back from the kids! If it's cartoon, we assume it's meant for children but in anime you actually have both sides.
  • I never gave you a real answer did I? I love it because it comes from a people who think entirely different from me or the country I live in. The same could be said about the BBC. I love fresh ideas and plots. I first feel in love with it as a child. Robotech. Till then I always loved giant robots and epic battles. But no one ever got hurt. Even with G.I. Joe you would always see parachutes. Robotech changed that for me. It didn't glorify war. It made people I cared about die. It made me stop and think.
  • The appeal of animation has always been that it doesn't suffer the constraints of reality that conventional film making does. It can take us pretty much anywhere. An anime film like "Spirited Away" is the best demonstration of this, and it is simultaneously a rich cultural experience and a flight of the imagination. I was so powerful on both fronts that it became the largest selling movie ever in Japan. Not the largest selling Anime movie, the largest selling movie of any type, eclipsing Star Wars, Titanic, and every other film.
  • My reason? I see it as a truly unique way to tell a story. I think books are great, and live action movies/series are good too, but the fact is that you can do more in an anime than you can with live action. Some would argue against that cuz with today's CG capabilities you could do the same, and I agree, but who can afford it? When was the last time you saw a non American film with the special effects and graphics of Hollywood? I think animated films give us the opportunity to see stories that would never be made into films if not for anime. Books can't always convey what visuals can.
  • I don't know how simple the answer is:I love fantasy.
  • why do you want to know?
  • First of all, the drawings are unique and different. Some can be more serious where others are silly and exaggerate expressions. What turned me onto anime was their styles and storylines. The importance of spirit and the non-traditional American beliefs were intruiging to me. Compared to many typical cartoons of America, many anime can be dark and thoughtful.
  • unlike most american shows, anime has QUALITY. it has a story line (most of the time, except for those stupid parody animes) there are some good american shows but i prefer anime.
  • in short from: it's just so much more interesting than most american crap i only got into it a year ago, but i'm still a pretty big fan anime has depth to it, not only humour (and the artwrok - in my opinion - looks better)
  • The great acting.
  • Wow, you are right, that question is simple. I have never experienced anime, so I can't answer your question, no matter how simple it is.
