  • I would fight that ticket. I don't know about points but I do know that often when a ticket is for just a few miles over the judge will over turn it.
  • Question: were you in a school zone, when you were issued the traffic citation for 5 mph over the speed limit? if so, the officer was correct in issuing the citation. If you were not in a school zone, 5 mph over the posted speed limit, is not excessive. i write radar speeding citations every day. 10 to 15 mph, over the posted speed limit, is always allowed, except in dangerous driving conditions. If your driving record is clean, i believe the court will make an exception. do not pay the fine. go to court. paying the fine is a definite guilty plea and will place 2 points on your drivers license. this will cost you now and cost you in future auto insurance premiums. Go to court and take a chance. if you have to attend 4 hours of defensive driving, at least the citation will be dismissed, as if it never happened.
  • I've never heard of "points" on a license. Your insurance can go up, and if you've had a bunch of speeding tickets, you could be suspended.
  • I believe there is a mandatory 5 mph leeway on speed. If guilty I would suspect no more than 1 point if that. The important thing to remember (and I am in Michigan everyday) is that Michigan is virtually bankrupt. They are looking for money anywhere they can get it. And yes they will lie and cheat to get money. They have a failed govenor and a poor economy thanks to the UAW. It is doubtful they would let you win even if you prove yourself right.
  • Ok - are you really telling us everything about the ticket? For example, I got caught in Michigan for 48 in a 25. He wrote me a ticket for 30 in a 25. And handed it to me of course like he was doing me a favor. So it depends what he actually recorded vs what he wrote you the ticket for. My original speed is on the ticket. Just in case I felt like fighting it I guess. Just pay it.
  • Two points on your Michigan driving record if you plead guilty. Go to court and show judge your previously clean driving record and he will let probably place you on probation.
  • I have been in two accidents recently and i just got a 5 over ticket, i already have 2 pts on my license, will this make it to 4? should i fight it pay it or what? i cant afford the 2 more pts i need to get rid of them.I can get a lawyer if it makes them drop the points. just tell me what i should do please!
