I live in a HOA, We were told that we weren't in a HOA upon closing. After Closing, we found an invoice in our door, stating that we owe dues at a prorated cost. Their isn't any info in our closing papers about it either. What should we do?

If the property has an HOA, there would restrictive covenant filed with the county and listed on your deed. If this is not the case, then you have no obligation to pay. If it is, you should know about it because you should have done a title search before the closing.
