  • be sure to scuff the plastic with a scuff pad (600 grit). Use a plastic primer (SEM brand) and a high quality aerosol paint (krylon), unless you plan on doing it with automotive grade paint and are going to spray it through an HVLP gun like I did. You can still, however, get a good finish both ways. After scuffing wash plastic with soap and water (better yet, get an automotive Wax and Grease remover, and read instructions before using this product). Now that its clean and DRY, spray your primer on in light coats (don't obtain 100% coverage in your first coat, for runs and sags or lifting may occur). After 3-4 light coats of primer go ahead and paint away using the same procedure. If you're in a dusty environment, get a TACK clock and tack the dust off between coats.
