Runner on 1st and 3rd, right-handed pitcher starts on the rubber from the wind up. Realizes his mistake. What foot must he step of the rubber with to be able to go to the stretch?

    He must break contact with his right foot to become a "fielder" and not commit a balk. The same is true if he is in the stretch. If he steps off the rubber with the right foot first and turns towards first he does not have to throw the ball. If he turns towards first with his right foot in contact with the rubber and does not throw the ball it is a balk.

    A right handed pitcher should only have his right foot on the rubber. so your answer is the left foot.
