My conclusion: it seems that candles are scented with various scents / flavors... 1) Flavor sells, scent doesn't. You say: "Come where the flavor is!" But you don't say: "Come where the scent is!" 2) "Flavor or flavour (see spelling differences) is the sensory impression of a food or other substance, and is determined mainly by the chemical senses of taste and smell. The "trigeminal senses", which detect chemical irritants in the mouth and throat, may also occasionally determine flavor. The flavor of the food, as such, can be altered with natural or artificial flavorants, which affect these senses." SOurce and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flavor Note that this definition does not restrict the concept of flavor to food. 3) It seems that many say now that candles (and other items) are scented with scents and/or flavors. This is particularly true when the products used remind of a particular food item: "What is your favorite scented candle flavor?" http://www.simplehousekeeping.com/forum_topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=97&FORUM_ID=5&CAT_ID=3&Forum_Title=Housekeeping&Topic_Title=What+is+your+favorite+scented+candle+flavor%3F&whichpage=1&tmp=1#pid358 "Flavor Of The Month: Jessica's Special Valentine Air & Linen Spray This one is just for my good pal Jessica. It smells fruity just like her (just kidding). We all think it smells like a cherry gelatin dessert. Some would describe it as pomegranate. I don't know as I've never heard anyone ever refer to them as flavored candles outside of AnswerBag. So I was wondering if it is regional, maybe. People don't eat candles, and they smell like lots of things people don't eat, so I think the generic 'scented' candles makes more sense to me.

They're uneducated is why.
