  • Sanctius, a youth of Albi, France, was captured by invading Moorish forces that had penetrated into southwest Frances. The Moors took him back as a prisoner of war to Moslem-occupied Cordova, Spain, where he was given military training. But when Sanctius openly professed his Christian faith, he was sentenced to a barbaric death in which he was stretched upon the ground and impaled (pierced upon a stake or spike).
His Feastday is 2 June, a day on which Catholic Saints are celebrated.
