  • are you getting fire to the plugs?if not,remove the distributor cap and check the points.turn the engine over and see if the points are firing.if they are firing spray the inside of the cap w/WD40 and replace it.the engine should start.if they are not,clean them w/a fingernail file and gap them using a matchbook for a gauge (it will work for now) then,if they are not firing, replace the condensor.it is the small can mounted under the cap.
  • try disconnecting tachometer. my '72 did the same thing. the tach was grounded out.
