  • No, not if there is a nice warm nest box with fresh dry hay in it and she has been kept quiet and calm and stress free and getting the proper nutrition for gestation. Not knowing she was pregnant, you couldn't prepare or plan for it. You couldn't place the nest box in the cage on the 28th day. There is lots to do when a rabbit gets pregnant and afterward. Breeding rabbits isn't as simple and careful as they make it seem on TV or jokes.
  • Thanks. We thought she was pregnant a while back and made all the preperations just in case but nothing happened and it had been over 30days so figured we were wrong, and them BAM, out of the blue 5 dead kits. We did try and revive them by putting them in a blanket ontop of a hot water bottle but our efforts were no good. Over the witer we moved the hutch into the garage to try and make it a bit warmer and it also gets covered every night with a blanket but as they were all scattered around the hutch this didnt help much. We will be more prepared naxt time and keep our fingers crossed they survive, but just wonded if it was normal for them to loose their first litter regardless.
