It depends on your age. cartoons have been around for many years. they have made generations of people....laugh.
I do not which cartoon is the most famous, but i will bet this cartoon contains either, mickey mouse or bugs bunny.

I would have to say Mickey Mouse. Mickey is a global character which has paved the way for many characters following his creation...just my opinion.

Mickey Mouse is the most famous cartoon *character*, I bet. Ditto what Mr. McClister said... also know that "anime" style was strongly influenced by Mickey Mouse (through Osamu Tezuka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osamu_Tezuka ).
On the flip side, I don't think Mickey Mouse *cartoons*.. as in episodes or series are among the most well known. The most famous Mickey Mouse cartoon has got to be Steamboat Willie, but I doubt anyone but animation nerds really know or care about that one.
