Next time they call tell them not to call back. Ask them for an address so you can send them Cease and Desist letter. Here is a sample: http://www.bendover.com/adiosbottomfeeder.asp Also, tell your son to pay his bills or settle the accounts.

tHE CALLBACK NUMBER WAS bogus...hE DID HAVE MY ACCOUNT NUMBERS FROM THE SAME BANK HE ALLEDGILY(sp.) represented...yes he told me all my families social security numbers over the phone and I was not who he called for...

If they call again tell them to desist or you will instigate formal legal proceedings against both the individual and the organisation. That should do it.

Unfortunately, my little brother did this first, to my parents, then to me, also! As long as he has those #'s AND someone to help him, he can buy all kinds of things, (not counting just the stuff he can buy on the internet)! Immediately report your identity as stolen, and contact any company that may have your info in their records, that you did not give to them. Do realize that your son will get in trouble with the law, once you tell WHO stole your identity! I HAD to do it with my brother, because he included MY name and MY drivers license number and soc.sec. # in a bunch of arrests, claiming he was me (born on the same day, 2 years apart, almost twins in appearance). That took forever to clean up. Be prepared for a lot of hard work! I hope you caught this in time, and I'm sorry for the emotional pain you will suffer, if he totally ruins your credit standing. When it comes from a family member, it's a hundred times worse!

Collectors have many tools to assist them in reaching their goals. There are programs available that will give you the gender, date of birth and social security number to every person living in the house, it'll list every previous address you had, and can also access neighbors information. This program will also give an overview of credit, meaning names of banks you have accounts with as well as partial account #'s.It sounds to me like you have a very aggressive collector. Hopefully, he doesn't call the neighbors and leave a message with them asking for you or your son to call back. (That does happen quite a bit). It's a scare/embarassment tactic used by collectors to get SOMEONE to pay for the debt. They actually don't care who pays, and statistics show that most parents will pay off a debt for their child if they get frustrated with all the calls. If this person calls back, find out as much as possible about the debt. Find out the name of the collection agency, the name of the creditor who hired them, the account number, and balance. Check with your son to make sure the debt is legit. If it is, the only way to stop collection calls is to make a payment plan with them. Unless you fell like changing your phone # and making sure it is unlisted. Even with a cease and desist letter or a request to stop calling, a manager of the collection agency can still call once a month if they are unsuccessful in contacting your son at another phone #.

How old is your son?

The answer to your problem is very simple. Change your phone number or go to all cellphones. This blows bill collectors minds, when they cannot reach you.
