  • Simplest thing is to wash your face a lot. Your sebacious glands under your skin produce a lot of oil (they're working overtime, because they're excited by hormone changes) so to stop the oil from clogging up in your pores, you need to keep your pores clean. 1. get a hot wet towel. Drape over face. The heat makes your pores open up. 2. Get some PH neutral soap or body scrub solution & using a warm wet towel (with a bit of roughness to it, not a smooth sort of fabric towel) scrub lightly at the acne. But dont overdo it. Dont rub so hard that it becomes red or irritated. 3. If you have blackheads, thats the oil in the pore oxidising on contact with the air & turning black. NOT DIRT (as some people commonly mistake). Using your fingernails, apply a little pressure to the area around your blackheads. If successfull, you'll actually see the blackhead and the solidified oil in the pore (a yellowish color) "slide" or "squeeze" out of the pore like toothpaste out of a tube! This clears the pore out & helps it to shrink back down. You'll have to do this a lot. Maybe for half an hour, depending on how many blackheads you have, or how thourough you want to be.. 4. if there are pimples, dont pop them unless you can see the white in them, raised up in a firm lump. The white is actually white blood cells which your body is making in excess. Dont pop them unless you can see the white in the pimple. Even if that means leaving them for a few more days to 'mature' to the popping stage. Trying to pop them early will just hurt, and will cause a scar if you arent careful. 5. finish off by wiping your face with a cool towel, and then apply a good non-oily skin cream or conditioner to prevent and dryness or flaking. Remember that bar soap will dry out the skin on your face and cause flaking, so never use it on your face if possible. Always use a PH NEUTRAL soap (it will say this on the label somewhere).
  • when i was younger i would take a lemon and cut it in half and rub the juice on the acne let it set for 5 minutes then wash my face. it helped more than anything.
  • Ice, twice a day. Put it in a plastic bag and then put a very think cloth over it and hold it against your skin for a while on and off so you don't get an ice burn. On for like 30 seconds of for 15 on for 30 seconds etc. For about 10 minutes twice a day. This helps me.
  • No homemade remedy ever worked for me, the only thing that worked was Proactiv (I'm not trying to get you to buy it, just honest). It was gentle on my skin and left it smelling nice. The downside is that you have to pay about $50 every two months for god-knows-how-long to keep getting it. Some people use it for upwards of five years. And you can't wear makeup to cover scars because the lotion's consistency just won't allow it on top of your skin. It is not a cure, and there is NO CURE for acne. Anything you use, you will have to keep using because acne is an ongoing condition.
  • I don't think there are any homemade cures. My husband used to have acne. He went on ProActive for just one month. The acne disappeared and hasn't been seen since. This was one year ago. Salaam
  • I don't know specifically about acne, but I know all skin conditions benefit from a diet that is low in saturated fat and junk. Include lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Drink lots of pure water. Avoid sodas, candy, and other garbage. Be gentle to your skin. Keep it clean, but don't overdo it. Too much washing can cause your skin to produce more oil and make the problem worse. Use natural products that don't contain a lot of artificial ingredients. Get 10 minutes of sunshine every day. Rest and exercise appropriately to keep yourself generally healthy. When I used to have some problems with pimples, I found that benzyl (?) peroxide worked well applied directly with a Q-Tip. Now I use witch hazel as a cleanser and pure aloe gel as an oil free moisturizer. I use pure tea tree oil to treat the occasional blemish. Here is an article I wrote about natural beauty: DIY BEAUTY http://hubpages.com/hub/DIYNaturalBeauty I hope it is helpful to you. I really think that taking a holistic approach (one that includes your whole body/health) works best for most manifestations of imbalance. Acne is not necessarily the problem. It may just be a symptom. :) Suzanne
  • I've heard toothpaste works
  • Wash your face three to four times a day (or more) with White Dial soap. Follow with witch hazel on a cotton ball. Don't put anything else on your face, just keep it clean with these two items. They aren't free but much cheaper than all of the "acne wonder products" out there. When you are away from home and can't wash, buy witch hazel wipes at the drug store and wipe your face with them often. By the way, this is what my girls' pediatrician had them do when they started getting acne. I didn't just think it up.
  • Wash your face with soap, and if you feel like paying a little for a way that really really works then buy proactiv.
  • Go to Walmart or a wholefoods store and buy a small bottle of Tea Tree oil, costs about $8.00 and requires no prescription. Dab it directly to your pimples several times a day. Do not get it in your eyes!! Tes Tree oil is a natural oil and is effective in treating insect bites, burns and skin infections. Google it for more information.
  • Wash your face with B&D Alcohol swabs 4 times per day http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IKKHFO
  • if your a boy, i dont know, if your a girl birth control, it works magic wonders. i had the most scarred disgusting acne you can imagine and when i was 16 i took it and it cleared like no tomorrow.
  • The only guranteed cure is to gain confidence and stop caring about it. Don't let it affect your mood.
  • Toothpaste (the paste kind, not the gel) works for sure. Put a little dab onto the spot & let it dry over night. Wash your face in the morning & at night EVERY DAY! I'm 22 and if I miss a few days my acne returns. If you can, get some samples of Differen3 from your dermatologist - free samples of course - this stuff clears it in 2 days!
  • Acne is related to increased hormonal activity during adolescence. This will go away after some time. Intake of chocolates, milk and fatty food adds to acne. Deficiency of Vitamins A and E also referred to as causes in some cases. Keep your skin clean by frequent washing.
