First you need to start reading. A Wiccan reads. A lot. You need to read up on the theology, ethics, and history of Wicca (accurate history, not Murray/Ravenwolf tripe) and see if it is for you.

I suggest starting with Ellen Cannon Reed's "The Heart of Wicca: Wise Words from a Crone on the Path". I don't recommend Silver Ravenwolf until you have studied some actual factual information. In fact, there is no need to read her stuff at all, unless you want to see the horribly inaccurate historical claims she makes (among other problems).

    I also recommend

    http://wicca.timerift.net
    and http://www.witchoftheeast.com (my site)

    to get started.

Everyone's got good advice, so I'll throw in: If what you're reading sounds like the writing of a whackjob, it probably is and you should take it with a massive grain of salt.

I will repeat what the others said about reading. You need to become very informed about whet the beliefs of Wicca are, and decide for yourself if they are a good fit with you life, and beliefs.

If you know anyone in your area, you could ask them some basic questions about the religion, and so on.

Reading! Lots of reading. I didnt start doing spells untell i had been surfing the net for like a mounth.

There are so many differnt pagan religions that it took me a long time to get confertable in one of them. So lots of reading is something that needs to be done you need to sort our what you do belive and what you dont belive.

Wiccans are often misunderstood. People often do not understand what wiccans do, believe or practice and assume the worst when they come across a wiccan.

Don't attempt to open your mind and expose yourself to magick until you are certain you are prepared. Magick and Faith are two different energies. Learn the power of Faith first. When things start showing you the way--don't get drunk on ego--lest you be taught a lesson. Find the Gods who choose you--make your own--or honor the Universe as a whole--the paths are without end. Treat the divine with love--or you do not love yourself. Never use magick against another--it will kill you fast or slow--or something else will. See the animals as brothers. Once you learn some secrets--speak of it when called upon.

Reading is right... there is lots of reading. But I found purchasing the beginners books to be the best first step. Joining online social groups like "http://wiccantogether.ning.com/" will help out a lot as well.

Check out www.Cronescabinet.com for online supplies. Keeps things discrete.

Read, starting with Ronald Hutton's "Triumph of the Moon", so that you understand the real history of Wicca and not the popular made-up history. Secondly, don't believe a word you read in any book published by Llewellyn Press. Thirdly, if a website or book mentions Celtic Wicca or says that Wicca is an ancient religion, it's bogus. Wicca is a purely modern neo-pagan religion. There's nothing wrong with that, but beware of any source that says otherwise.
