Have you ever had any kind of personal encounter with a Ghost, only serious answers please?

    Yes, I had a friend in high school who always said his house was haunted. Of course I never bought it until one day we were hang out. I was siting on his water-bed playing some video games. He went to the kitchen to grab some snacks shutting the door behind him. About 5 minuets later the door creped open. and there was an impression of someone sitting down next to me on the water-bed. There was a visible dimple in the mattress were something was sitting That was enough for me. I boogied out of that house about as fast as I could!

    Yes, when I was about 11, all the lights went off in the house - a power cut. Nobody else was in the room with me. I screamed when the lights went out because I was scared and the I felt a very firm hand on my soldier. It was actually quite comforting.
    Lights come on and, surprise surprise, nothing there. Weird!

    I haven't - but my mother has had two, one in our current house.

    The first, when she was younger, was when she and her mother were living in the gatehouse of a convent - my grandmother was working as a cook for the order of nuns.

    The gatehouse had a little garden, and they often used to see a nun in this garden under an old tree. They were a bit disconcerted because the nun was wearing an old-style habit (the Catholic church modernised nuns habits in the mid 20th century).

    My grandma tried to go up to her and talk to her - at which point she vanished.

    At this point she thought she would ask the nuns what was going on. All the nuns said was "oh, that is Sister XYZ. She was a nun here in the late 19th century and she died in a fire in one wing of the convent. We all see her wandering about the grounds."

    Our house is about 300 years old, and used to be several small one-up-one-down cottages until the mid 20th century. One of the downstairs rooms my mother uses as a 'study'. One day she was sitting reading, when she smelt smoke and leather. She looked up, and there was a young man leaning against the wall, dressed in what she took to be a WWI uniform. She described him as having cloth 'wrapped around his lower legs' and described the details of his uniform. She said he looked as solid as you or I, and then he just vanished. Funnily enough, when we looked up his uniform it was for a cavalry regiment which was based just a few miles up the road from us.

    A builder that came to our house told us how he was working on a job in the Yorkshire Dales and was, as he put it, near the house 'taking a piss' when a couple of what he took to be Roman soldiers marched right in front of him. Funny thing was, they were marching along buried up to the waist, because obviously the current ground level was different. It completely freaked him out.

    My mother lost her father when she was in her late teens. One day she was walking down the road, and he was standing on the other side of the road looking at her. It happened to her a couple of times in the years following his death.

    Yes, 3 times. I have a memory from when I was little of sitting in my Grandmother's living room with her my Mother and my Grandfather. My Grandfather died when my Mother was 10 or 11.

    My other Grandmother died when I was in highschool. After she died any time I was alone I felt like someone was in the room with me. One night out of the blue I said "Savta (Grandma) your scaring me." although I didn't know why I said it. The feeling went away.

    I year or two ago I woke up and I saw the same Grandmother in the corner of my room.

    When I was in my parents room, I saw the door nob to the closet turn by itself. I went inside and looked all around to try to find my brother but I saw him in his room. No one was in the closet so that scared me. Also, my parents left for work.

    I haven't but my father did when he was a child. He said when he lived up in Massachusettes he lived in an apartment, and one day at night he went to throw out the trash at one of those community dumpsters. He said, when he got there and threw the bag in he saw this glowy, white, blob, he didnt know what it was but he high tailed out of there as fast as he could and ran. He said he is suspicous that its a ghost.

    Yes, I was visiting my sister at Christmas in Kansas.
    My sister told me there was a ghost living in their home; that it was a woman.
    I was upstairs and had just gotten out of the shower and was in the bedroom I was using. Someone called my name. I thought it was someone calling up the stairs and going over to them there was noone there. I returned to my room and finished dressing. When I went down to where the rest of the family was I asked whom had called me. No one had. My sister said the ghost had evidently called. It was a female voice. She never made herself visible that I know of nor did she talk to me anymore.

    Yes,
    I think I've been seeing either Ghosts and or Spirits since I was 14 after I fell down a flight of concrete stairs (true story), and after it happened, I went through the whole travelling through the light experience (near death experience). I became a bit psychic/deja vu.
    Did not plan it, it just sort of came to me after my accident, it has helped me alot.

    When I was in my teens I encountered a spirit at the local bus stop where I would board to go home. yes it was "freaky"
    The spirit would sometimes show themselves and it was very strange. Show themselves I mean by showing me what they were wearing I never ever did see their face it was shadowed out.
    I heard their voice more than once. It was gibberish, I didn't understand it, could have been a foreign language. But I felt their pain (which someone has told me recently this is a feeling of intercessory)
    Basically what it is,.. is I can walk on a bus and sense another persons pain. It is a very strange feeling to have and it scared the crap out of me the first time it happened.

    More recently I have been experiencing spirits whispering my name, I have no idea why I hear this voice and what their message is.
    Sometimes I see the spirit/ghosts face not always but sometimes they do come to the light and I don't understand who they are and what connections I need to connect them with.
    Most times I wish I could connect them with their lost ones, but in another sense I am grateful for not connecting them because I don't want the other person to think I am a nut.
    I am in no way schizophrenic and its not my fault that I see them sometimes.

    Because of these connections I started to keep a Spirit Journal.

    At work I do hear a voice whispering my name, or "over here" and believe me I look and I see nothing. Then I ask my co-workers if they said something and nothing came from them. Strange.
    One time I recognized the voice as a family member who passed. When I told someone about it, they said "It was all in my head" I do believe this family member has a message but no one is willing to believe me so I just ignore it. There is only ever 3 people I ever told of this and I feel now is the time to share.
    So have I heard voices? yes
    Have I seen faces sometimes? Yes only sometimes.
    Have I seen what they are wearing? Yes a couple of times
    Do they speak to me? Sometimes, other times they are just watching me, I guess they think I don't see them but I do.
    Do I sometimes see a ghostly cat walking around my apartment? yes and no I don't know its name. (strange, I think my cats see it too)
    I'm glad I don't encounter them daily, but if they do say something like "watch your step" I do look to watch my step.
