  • You probably have multiple ''accounts'' on your computer (shown at loggin during Windows startup) and had opened another of them at some point.
  • What I would do is put a password on your computer! And if that doesn't seem helpful, go to bestbuy or whereever you bought the computer and ask someone there! Maybe there's some software to prevent this from happening! Good Luck :)
  • lol ur so funny..that means other users on your comp such as ur siblings or parents or whoever else uses ur comp r logged in, if they had somethin important on their screen u shoudl ask them if its safe to shut down....but if they dont give a fck click shut down and lose the data....data means the web pages or programs u guys were on....so it doesnt mean hackers it means who ever (real ppl) shares ur comp ;)
  • Sounds like you have gremlins. You may have to exercise them. On a more serious note, I know that my computer automatically set up two users. Since I didn't change it to one user, it will give me the same message when I close it out - even when my husband hasn't logged on since I turned on the computer.
  • I get this if someone else has logged in to their own 'user account' on the same machine.. When you boot up XP and get to the screen where you choose the user.. Do you have any other accounts showing other than your own? Does anyone else use your computer and hasnt logged off from when they were using it?
  • I'm sorry, that was me. I'll be more careful in future
  • That's no problem is just the another user, let's say your sister, brother, mom, dad did not log off and they had programs opened but that will not damage the computer.
  • just scan your computer with a good spyware prog.
  • Is your computer on a wireless network and is remote desktop enabled. if so you need to put a password, disable the admin account, and secure your wireless network with wpa, definetly not wep. If that doesnt solve it i would recomend that you press ctrl + alt + delete and click on the users tab and be sure no one else besides your account is logged on. If your account is the only one loged on I dont think the error message is anything to worry about. And one last thing, if it says there are other users loged on when you shut down, they definetly arnt doing anything because xp only supports one user account to use the kernals graphic server at a time.
  • Well i have s simmilar prob do you share a internet conection with another computer if so that could be the prob
  • I have had a similar thing. It was a Windows bug, nothing more sinister than that. You may have found when you logged in that you were given the option of logging in to two accounts. Just get rid of the second account, run ad aware, and you should be ok.
  • Well if there are others in your household, chances are that someone sneaked around and got on it without your knowledge. But if not, you may have accidentally went on your computer as a guest at one time, and then as yourself at another time. The reason that a computer will say that is it has recognized someoen else besides the Administrator has used it. I wouldn't worry too much, but if you want to stay especially private, then create yourself as the administrator, and create your own personal password. With that, no one can get on your computer at all without your consent/approval. Thanks
  • I occasionally get that after my wife uses our PC and then I log in. I wouldn't worry too much unless there is only one user account (yours) on the PC.
