I've noticed that, and flagged several, and apparently the flags weren't approved...

Oh no... if AB is allowing this for $$ purposes... what do we do?

If they were truly spam and you flagged them as Spam/Offensive, they would get approved. But it usually takes time for the staff to get to flags, most of the time they are gone through later in the day as they work out of California. If your flags were not approved you will get a rejection latter stating why they were not approved. And trust me, the Staff is working very hard to come up with something to keep spammers from being able to join over and over again. They don't like it at all, because they take people off site and they don't get money for allowing spammers, they lose money from spammers. Lately there have been dozens of them. It's not unusual for me to find over 12-15 at a time. Something must be done about them and we're doing the best we can right now. Reporting them to the blog or finding a Community Leader and breaking into their answer or comments is the best way to get rid of them immediately, but go ahead and flag them, too in case there isn't a CL around.
