  • If the state your car's registered in requires both front and rear plates attached, then yes, you can get ticketed. You'll have to do the aftermarket mods.
  • Just another use for duct tape. Yes.
  • Motorcycles and trailers can usually have one plate. In CA this will get you a "fix-it ticket". Some jurisdictions now even charge a penalty fee for fix-it tickets. This part of law used to be rarely enforced but is now aggressively enforced in those communities that are using traffic cameras to issue tickets for speeding or red light violation.
  • It depends on what state you are living in, I know in Wisconsin you have to have one in the front and back but in Michigan you only need one in the back.
  • if you have a late model car the bumper is probably plastic, there for you can drill holes in it then mount the plate,if its not you still can drill the steel.
  • If your state requires two plates to be attached, then yes. If you have no front mount, at least carry the other plate inside your vehicle, in case you are stopped. You are showing that you are trying to comply with the law. The officer will see this for himself.
  • I have actually received a "fix it" ticket for no front license plate (I live in California). However, I would note that I have had several cars with no front license plate and was only cited once in many years. If I were in your position, I would hang on to the second plate but not bother mounting it unless I was cited. A factory dealer for your make/model car should have the proper front license brackets.
  • I am in CA and in the same situation as you. I got a fix it ticket at my works parking lot ! It gives me 21 days to fix it or pay $77.00 and still fix it. I had to order an after market plate bracket and am awaiting for it to come in then go to DMV and turn my old plate (only had one) in and recieve two newly issued plates then change the Registration card, pink slip and infor my Insurance. What Bull...............
