UK answer: simple wills take 4-6 weeks at present after you have gathered everything together to make the application. It is the inheritance tax that may delay matters.

In Canada up to a year..but I think it depends on the value of the estate.

over a year now and still waiting. should of been a simple probate. only for the house. i odnt understand why this crap takes so long. based on my experience its all about the lawyers bullshit and how much money he or she is making. if you want your probate done quick, maybe its time to bribe the lawyers with a little side cash so they'll put your case at the top of their list. our lawyer has been sayin "30 more days" now for the last 6 months. ASSHOLE!!! also it seem to take 3 months just to apply for a single court date. WTF??? California, THIS STATE SUCKS BALLS!!! dont families go through enough with the loss if their loved one without having to put up with all this bullshit from crooked lawyers and a government that just wants our money.
