I don't know a lot about Scientology specifically, but I know alot about religion and human psychology. These belief systems can be very useful for increasing the potential of an individual (wheter they are true or not doesn't really matter, after all, once we start in with words and ideas, truth becomes very relative and obscure) and I think that the celebs that are involved here are just normal people trying to find a way to cope. Something far fetched or even fictionally based seems that it would appeal greatly to a person who makes their living by convincing people that the fictional is real.

I think Scientology is about status for Actors(they always want to be different than the average human race) & it's for the super wealthy. You don't hear of a bunch of homeless or poverty stricken people talking about their Sunday Scientology class.

The Church of Scientology never parts with a buck. They mainly TAKE. Tom Cruise is good friends with David Miscavige, the cult's "Chairman of the Board" and I believe that Miscavige constantly urges and pushes Cruise to try to get other stars into Scn. There is a story that Cruise tried to get Scarlett Johannsen into Scn and I believe that this is very likely true.

Scientology doesn't need to pay actors. Part of CoS policy is to recruit celebrities because they recognize the advantages of having famous adherents. Celebrities who are part of CoS receive special treatment and have very little interaction with the normal members of scientology.
