Help answer this question below.

Something I've always wondered about. With the On Star systems we have today. And how you can go as far as unlocking doors or starting car/trucks. Why dose the law still have to chase a new make car, when it would be much safer to just shut it down?

    They actually proposed that as part of the OBDIII spec to replace the current OBDII engine controls.

    Ever have a Check Engine light? Automatic vehicular immobilization. That would SUCK at highways speeds, especially if you are not in a position to coast into the shoulder.

    Could you guarantee that remote immobilization would ONLY be used by law enforcement? That criminals would NEVER EVER EVER be able to hack it? Besides, we already have EMP things that can shut down a car anyways. Even an OBDI or OBDII car.
