I haven't driven the Al-Can yet, but I'm going to later this year. But, I have lived in Alaska, in Fort Yukon. I loved it.
Drove up in 72, I was 9 drove from Hayward CA to Anchorage AK in a 65 Lincoln. It rained most of the way on the Alcan and most of it was gravel back then. Lots of construction and pretty much 2-4 inches of mud the whole way. Got to Anchorage on June 21 1972. Moved to Alaska! Drove down in December 89 from Kenai Ak to Las Vegas NV. Mostly paved where there wasn't snow and ice.
I've been to Alaska twice, but never been to the Yukon.
Alaska is beautiful and amazing. I loved the Kenai Peninsula, Exit Glacier (near Seward), the drive up to Denali, the wildlife, and all those gorgeous trees.
No, but I'd love to ride it on my motorcycle! : ))
Yes I have.
I would love to, but the opportunity has not arrived for me yet. Are you going?
