The oldest thing that I've seen and recognized is our sun which is estimated to be about 4.57 billion years old: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun I say "...recognized...." because for all I know I could be seeing some stars that are close to 10 billion years old whenever I look up at the night sky but I sure as hell couldn't point out which ones they are. :p I think the oldest living thing I've ever seen is the General Sherman sequoia which I think is about 2,700 years old.
