Look up the Department of Commerce in your state. Most states have a special division to answer questions for small business owners just starting out. They will give you the insurance requirements in your state. You will likely need to get a contractors license as well. Also, with two employees, you will need to file for both a state tax ID number and a federal employer identification number to pay tax on your employees wages. Depending on what state you are in, you will likely also need to carry liability insurance on yourself and your employees (in case some one falls off the ladder!) The state and the federal govt will send you a packet of tax forms to complete each month once you get your tax I.D. numbers registered. Look in your local phone book for either a Small Business Administration or a non-profit called SCORE! or try the local community college (many have small business education centers). Best of luck!
