  • Yahweh!
  • WTF wasn't it Jesus?
  • Apparantely, Jesus Christ did.
  • Most people think it was this guy. Meh. v v v v
  • Christianity began as a Jewish sect. The Christian Church traces its history to Jesus and the Twelve Apostles, and saw the early bishops of the Church as the successors of the Apostles in general. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity
  • Most of the credit can be given to Paul, who carried its message far and wide. Jesus may have had a message and a set of ideals, but they didn't really go very far geographically during his lifetime, and I don't think they could have been characterized as a religion. Paul expanded on the message, elaborated on it, and was really one of the first and greatest missionaries, as well as probably one of the greatest philosophers of Christianity. I believe he kicked off a chain events that eventually led to the Roman emperor converting to Christianity, and then forcing the conversion as the official religion throughout the empire - leading to the organized Christianity that allowed it to survive and grow into its various forms today... for good and for evil. Definitely Paul. Jesus obviously has to be given some credit, but I don't think you can say that Jesus, who never wrote down a single word, and wasn't much of a missionary, was the founder of Christianity.
  • The disciples? They are the ones who wrote the gospels, and travels of Jeus. Aren't those what became the bible, which founded christianity?
  • Since the word "Christian" means follower of Christ, then it was Jesus, known as Christ (aka Messiah, Anointed One) who founded it.
  • Well that question is kind of like, "who founded Judaism?" I have come to the belief that God founded a Covenant with Abraham and his followers. I also believe that in continuaing with his plan, God founded Christianity, the New Covenant established by Christ at the last supper.
  • probably depends on who you ask, some will say it started before time if they believe christ was eternal, others say it started with jesus. i guess imo it started around the same time as the messianic jews, but somehow some messianic jews saw him as mortal while another side believed in jesus' divinity, and the apostle paul some years later elaborated on that side, spreading a lot of christian fundamentals throughout the lands of his time.
  • G (o) [D) did it duuuu
  • Jesus the Jew was a devout jew when he grew up but when he got older he started changing and adding to the old testament laws as with Matt 5:27-28. Christ made the new laws and those who chose to follow them began the what we know as the Christian Faith.
  • Arguably Jesus disciples, especially Paul.
  • People who wanted to be in charge of other people.
  • There is a fundemental flaw with this question and that is that you refer to Christianity as if it is ONE religion. The teachings of Jesus of Nazareth was spread around Jerusalem by all of his disciples, aswell as the apostles. No one person founded Christianity, a handful of people founded their own versions of Christianity in several places at the same time. The most common form of Christianity that is around today was founded by Constantine I in AD 325 with the Council of Nicaea. Jesus of Nazareth did not try and create/renew any religion, he merely preached a better way of life and that there are flaws in Judaism. Jesus of Nazareth taught that divinity is not attained through bithright, riches, position in the church, following rituals nor belief but through our deeds to one another.
  • Jesus, I think deffinatly. He was Gods son, and even though he wasn't on the earth for the longest amount of time, he did all that he could to speard the word of the Lord and that's what I think started this all.
  • A bunch of camel herders who needed to raise a lot of money real quick. They later evolved into the present day televangelists
  • Somesay that it was founded by Paul and not Jesus. The Author Karen Armstrong in her book on Paul entitled "The First Christian" argues that Jesus was originally an entirely Jewish figure and that Paul distorted his teachings to found Christianity.
  • Jesus did not found a religion. Christianity as we know it today is largely a product of the apostle Paul and his followers.
