I have a 1988 Honda Accord with 220,000 miles. It has started to chug at times and the idle sometimes sticks. What could be wrong?

The life expectancy of that engine is approx. 250,000 miles. you are very close to that number and the maintenance for the honda is about to go sky-high.

Has the timing belt ever been changed? this could be the problem. when the belt breaks, the engine could be ruined. maybe, its time to start looking for a replacement vehicle, preferrably another honda or toyota. better to replace now, than to break down on the interstate later.
