Yes they can, some severe convulsions can result in the tongue being swallowed and the sufferer choking to death.

My grown daughter has had Epilepsy since 5th grade . . . who knows why. I was told that they don't swallow thier tongue . . . but that they could bite it severely. Thank goodness that hasn't happened.

Yes. I had a very bad seizure in the hospital 3 years ago and broke a vertebrae in my back...luckily it only causes me leg pains now and not something a lot worse.

Yes they can be, either by swallowing or biting the tongue off, i looked after a young girl the other day, i heard a smash, so i ran in and she had a seizure on her bed, fell out and smashed her nose, had concussion...shook me up for awhile.
