Whats the current fashion view on boys/men having one ear pierced and will it make a comeback?

    Here in New York a lot of guys still wear an earring in their left ear. A lot of guys are still getting their left ear pierced. A good number of mostly younger guys have both ears pierced. I'm 56. I had my left ear pierced in '91 at age 39 because I thought it would be cool. Was afraid maybe I was too old but took the plunge anyway and absolutely glad I did. My 17 year-old nephew convinced me last year to get my right ear done as well and on the spur of the moment I did. I love it and actually get a lot of compliments, though some of my friends are still baffled about why an otherwise fairly conservative guy would get his ears pierced and wear earrings. Having both ears pierced gives me options; sometimes I wear earrings in both ears, sometimes just in the left, sometimes not at all (at work). I see guys all the time both young and middle-aged sporting an earring in the left ear or earrings in both ears. Either is still current in NY, though I think both ears more so now. Not that it matters. I wear earrings because I think they look cool, not because they are or aren't the latest "fashion." And that whole business about it being -- or looking -- "gay" is nonsense. I'm straight as an arrow and so are the guys I know who wear earrings. None of us looks effeminate either. Actually I think earrings are more of a straight thing now. As with any jewelry, men should keep the earrings small, simple and masculine. Works for me....

    I was never a fan of guys having one ear pierced... and I'm even less of a fan of them having two ears pierced.

    And what about these giant plastic diamond earings that guys are wearing in their ears?? We know their fake, you know their fake, who are they trying to fool? Who said it looks cool?

    It's a dated look. The 80's have made a comeback, but I seriously doubt that fashion will.

    *shudders when I look at old pictures of myself from the late 90's with 1 earring in my left ear*
