I've been in a heated debate WHILE I knew I was wrong =)
-
According to my gf, everytime.
-
YES. That's one of the best ways to drive yourself into learning mode, embarrass yourself by your own ignorance!
-
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken :) Of course I have. Hasn't everyone?
-
Yes, absolutely, and apologized afterwards.
-
Sure it has happened. But then I always try to recontact the person to apologize or explain myself so there are no hurt feelings and to let that person know that they were in fact correct.
-
I argued that the island of Malta had a larger surface area than London, I did. Well, I was wrong! Greater London 1577 Km2, Malta 316 Km2!
-
yeah n the winner was joey. oh i hate it wen he wins! eeerrrrr cuz he rubs it in . . . lol. he is fun to argue/debate with to me tho.
-
well, sure! but more often than not..i find myself debating issues that are based on opinions..not facts.
-
I'm usually pretty good at avoiding those situations, but I do occasionally fall ass-first into them. What's worse is that they're almost always over something stupid, like which stop to get off on the train, or what the rules are for serving alcohol on a Sunday. Another thing that's really annoying is when you realize you're wrong during the argument. At least for me, because I decide that I can gently back-peddle out of it - which of course never works and I wind up looking like even more of a jackass.
-
Yes~last night, now I have to eat humble pie!
-
Yes, a time or two. I always make it point to come back, say I'm sorry and that I was wrong because it makes me feel really bad. I try to avoid heated debates anyhow because I know that I can always be wrong if I fail to see the whole picture so to speak or have misinformation. If a debate becomes heated; it's probably best for both parties to stop and do a bit more research and hopefully come back and reach an agreement. A regular debate is good; better chance to learn that I'm wrong (or right) before it becomes heated.
-
No. That has never happened to me - I am always right. What? You don't believe me? Just ask my husband. I AM ALWAYS RIGHT. ;o) Ok....MAYBE there has been a time or two when I MAY have argued fervently and discovered that I was less than 100% correct...maybe.
-
Plenty of times, I have no problem apologizing and saying "my bad".
-
oh yeah...like that one time in band camp...
-
GGAAAKKKK!!!! I hate that!!!
-
hahaha omgsh yes...i'd just be like "oops" but at least I stood by my wrongful point and didnt back down
-
Yes, it's happened to me. I do go back, eat humble pie, and let the person(s) know that I stand corrected.
-
Yes with my husband once
-
OMG... yes, and in front of a crowd no less!...I just wanted to vanish. Now I make sure I have all my facts straight before the claws come out..haha :)
-
nope not in a heated debate, Sara, babieee....whoever, heated debates are known to lower IQ. It's best to avoid debates if you're angry, too.
-
Yes, and then I admitted I was wrong when I found out I was wrong.
-
Excuse me?? I may not always be right...but I am NEVER wrong!!! ;-) Yes, I have had to "adjust my thinking" a time or two..I have no problem admitting I am wrong and would rather be proved wrong than to believe something that may not be factual.

I argued with my boyfriend about a song. He just said, "I'm sure you are right." Later I found the song on a CD and I was WRONG! I was mortified. I told him, "I'm so sorry; you were right, I was wrong." He said it was nice to hear a girl say that he was right.

Not in real life, but often online!
-
Almost daily. I drink.
-
Yes, it has taught me that I better be able to site my source if I'm that confident in my stance.
-

-

-
