I used to get laryngitis on a regular basis. Here is what I did to overcome it: 1. Rest your voice as often as you can. 2. Gargle with warm salt water (about a spoonful of salt to 8 oz. of water) 3. Irrigate your nasal passages. There's a reason for ENT docs. It's all related. Follow the directions here: http://www.apneasupport.org/about3572.html 4. Lastly, buy some Chloraseptic. Pour some in a shot glass and gargle with it. It'll deaden the throat and you'll be able to speak for about an hour between shots.

Gargling warm water while singing a song (the tune, not the words) feels really good on a sore throat.
