I liked it, the music combined with the scenery and the storyline gave it a uniquely otherworldly kind of feel. The constant tapping on the pipes for example was an everpresent reminder of the "world under the stairs". They completely botched it up towards the end, but the series overall had some interesting stories and some deep character development.

I remember enjoying it when it was on. I bought the first season DVDs for my mom, and it failed to measure up to my memories. I think it was the music that did it in for me--it was a little over the top. Even so, it's a cool idea. If you're interested in where a story like that can go if you really push the concept, try the book Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman--it's about a mystical underworld beneath London.

I enjoyed the women's opinionatedness (if that's a word) but Stan was just annoying.
