Help answer this question below.
I should think they (the Christian Church alone )have enough money to solve all of this planets woes, including switching energy platforms, as well as feeding the hungry, educating the poor , clothing the naked...shoeing the unshod.. etc, hey is'nt that what they are supposed to do? ...so ironic that while all earthlings struggle with the fates there is a larger than life entity that could help us all , the same guys who ask us to wait for help from some other Guy (invisible, loving, omnipotent) who will help us a whole lot after we are dead...hmmm, recently I found a mention of the idea that the Bible is in fact a propaganda tool created in the 9th century as a way to guilt, force, threatenEuropean peasants into accepting the nature and pain of Feudalism , you know, work hard now , get paid after you are dead (sweet release) I have to say I do love Jesus, but also Allah, Buddha, and other great Earth gods, I just love this planet, nice place to visit...
The church is as rich a god.
I don't think anyone can come close to an estimate. It's a private corporation effectively so they don't have to report income to anyone (in the US at least, and in the US they are not taxed).
How do you put a dollar value on things like the sistine chapel or the countless other works of art that have been commissioned by or donated to the church??
Really, when taken into account all of the property they own that is really priceless, and the decentralized nature of their organization, such that each diocese and even each individual church has their own assets, the question is literally impossible to answer with anything other than a guess. If i were to hazard one i would go so far as to say close to 1 trillion dollars conceivably much more possibly less. I'm really not trying to bre evasive with the answer but a realistic answer given the structure and nature of many of the assets really is impossible. It is safe to say when given an aggregate estimate, that it is the wealthiest organization on this planet.
A bit late of a reply.
I am unsure why anyone would be getting worked up how much money the church has?
The church owns property so does any large corporation. But unlike any large corporation the church does a huge amount of work. Including provides the most medical facilities in Africa, lobbying government to reduce debt woes on developing countries as well as environmental conversation.
Read the following: http://ncronline.org/
And think about the last few years and ask yourself...if the church was responsible for:
1. The war on terror
2. The GFC
3. Natural disasters
4. Civil war in Africa
5. AIDS
6. Environmental degradation
No? But yet they have spent billions in money and hours raising awareness to these issues and involved in community development projects.
It isn't up to one organization to change but all of us.
What have you done for your local community? For Africa for Asia? For the environment? Anything?

You're reading How much money is the catholic church estimated at having?

I like that link. If by Church it is meant the whole church, I think the value is much higher than that. The question could be interpreted both ways.
