  • I have had three lower disc surgeries. none of the three produced a bruise. Did you have an accident, which would have caused the bruising in that area? Is your pain going down the back of one or both legs? If so, i assume you have seen a doctor. this worked for me......... Lay flat on your back. place both legs in a chair, where your back will be perfectly flat with the floor. this relieves all the pressure on the lower back muscles. Nothing worked for me, except surgery. I feel great now.
  • I have arthritis in the middle of my spine and I have had my fair share of severe back pain. I find that exercise is beneficial for alleviating stiffness in my back. I work out with a treadmill three times a week and I find that moving around a lot is very beneficial. I would think that surgery would also be beneficial by removing scar tissue around your disk. This may make the bruising stop. I don't put a lot of faith in back surgery because it won't make a degenerative condition go away. I did find this link to be very informative and it might alleviate some of your concerns: http://www.spine-health.com/topics/cd/degen/feature/w_degen01.html Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
  • Exercise and stretching. Always start with gently stretches. You should be taking anti inflammatory pills if you have bulging disc and be very careful about the stretching before exercise.
