Question

Help answer this question below.

Now what was wrong with http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/584571 ? It's rather ridiculous to deny a funny question in "Outside the Bag" for being "nonsense". By that definition half of that category can go.

Nothing! I suppose someone didn't understand it.

That seems like such a harmless question, but I read somebody getting mad about fill in the blank questions so maybe he or she flagged the question.

I don't see how it's nonsense, but I know in the past staff didn't allow fill-in-the-blank type questions. But they are selective about rejecting them....

It isn't a question, therefore it is nonsense. If you want a fill in the blank type of question to be accepted you'll have to word it as a question. This goes back to the early days of Answerbag when it was a Q and A site with no pretensions of being a social networking site.

Pokki Tokki, it is a thin line sometimes between what is considered 'nonsense' or not. Mainly, perhaps, it is in the thinking of the person making that call.

Having had it happen to me on many occasions within the short time I have been on AB, I have to call those kinds of responses to what I clearly found logical, "LEARNING experiences." And, what I learned is "ASK A COMPLETE QUESTION". Even if the 26 answers you got proved that the question was clearly understood, by posting the question in the form of a complete question, it will not be labeled 'nonsense'. Seems a bit "nit-picky" to me, but it seems to be what AB Users and Admin. want.

Therefore, you might have asked that question this way: "What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the phrase 'leave it to a woman to....?'".

Personally, having found that the shortest questions receive a quicker and more responses, I think it is a big waste of time and energy to tag those kinds of questions as nonsense, since it just takes up more space and often gets overlooked, as people often go on to the next question without bothering because they don't want to take the time to read a long drawn out one (like this response I'm typing). Not that your question would have been that long and drawn out).

But then, this is a public forum and one will get all kinds of questions, answers and responses. I think your "question" was perfectly logical and understandable; therefore we must conclude that its being labeled 'nonsense' is, itself, nonsense.

Just make a complete sentence from now on and you'll be alright. *smiles*. (+pts.2.U.)

For a while now, many people consider fill-in-the-blank questions to be nonsense and flag them accordingly.
I posted a couple in the beginning but gave up seeing this.
