I had a Honda Civic that was assembled in Ohio, it was considered a domestic car. I would categorize a car assembled in the USA or the parts built in the USA as American made. As long as US workers are involved, with the exception of corporate offices, I would consider it American made.
If it's bigger than necessary, has poor fuel economy, automatic transmission and is unattractive chances are it's American, regardless of where the parts came from.

Exactly, while we have 'American' companies making cars in Mexico because the labor is cheaper.
