Do Mormons believe it was necessary for Jesus to suffer for our sins?

I am a Christian and I believe Christ had to suffer and die to atone for our sins. He atoned for ALL of our sins. Without Christ's suffering and death and resurrection there is no hope for any of us. As a result of Christ's death and resurrection, those who believe in what Christ has done have eternal life in heaven with the Father. There is nothing we can do as sinners to earn this. Christ did it all. The words I am using probably sound a lot like the words a Mormon would use. When a Mormon uses these words, the meaing is totally different. Mormons believe Christ only died on the Cross to enable us to get to heaven. Our place in heaven is determined by what we do here on earth and the after life. Mormons also believe that Jesus did not die for ALL of our sins. They believe that a murderer and a rapist (what they have done is terrible) are not able to be saved by Chirst's blood. So you see, Mormons use the same words but have different meaning. Read the Bible! Be prepared to be a loving witness to these lost souls, the Mormons.
