I am a ski/snowboard instructor. keep it fun, good weather, mild teraine, spend time letting them get use to just walking in the boots and then 1 ski on, just standing on skies for the first time can be challenging even for adults. you want them to be able to hold a wedge so let them slide in a straight line (just enough pitch to barly get them moving) after they can hold a wedge tell them to steer there feet or turn them in the direction they want to go then teach speed controll by varring the size of the wedge then slowly increas the pitch to their skill level, play games(red light green light, simon says, ect) ski backward in front of child (no poles you will need both hands free) after learning keep them on easy terain, sliding straight down in a breaking wedge behind you while you ski were you want is no fun and promotes many bad habits. keep it fun that is why we are out there.
