Question

Help answer this question below.

We have a Panasonic VCR V-4022. It recently developed an annoying chirpng sound during both record and playback. The sound frequency is related to tape speed. The cover has been off, but I still can't locate the source. What's wrong?

Check to see if the static brush is causing it. It's that little arm that comes in from beside the video drum and touches the top or bottom center of the video drum. Just lift it slightly, if the chirping stops put a small smear of lithium grease on it. Older VCR's had the static brush on top and newer models on the bottom.
