Question

Help answer this question below.

On my '90 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5, I replaced the timing belt, but now the engine makes a whirr/bearing spinning sound with no compression. Could this be the timing? What is the position of the #1 wire on the dist. cap?

Well, it is an interference engine meaning the pistons can hit the valves if it jumps time so either your vales are bent because it jumped time or you put it together out of time. I hope your valves are not bent.

After replacing a timing belt it is best to remove the spark plugs then roll the engine over by hand so you can feel a valve hitting the piston should that occur due to you timing the engine wrong.
