  • I believe using the words, manage to escape, has a twofold meaning, in this respect. Most jails and prisons are now mandated to have water sprinkler systems. each jail and prison is required to have an escape plan, in case of such an event. This is not to say that some inmates could escape in case of a fire. Most cities have buses, on standby, to transport prisoners to other facilites.
  • In the state and county prisons in most states formal fire drills are conducted on regular basses, sometimes a few times a month. Each pod or dorm is alerted of the fire or fire drill and the inmates will assembel in the common area of the pod or be ready at their cells. The Correctional officers and supervisors will then escort the inmates of the effected pod to the exit door and the inmates will be carefully supervised as they walk orderly and exit the pod into a secured area. The inmates will not be allowed to seperate from their line. The officers will conduct a count of the prisoners to make sure all inmates in the pod and compound are accounted for.
  • They wouldn't. Plus not a alot to burn in a prison of cement and steel, if there is a fire its usually caused by the inmates in the first place. Usually not much of a disruption.
  • Same way they do now.
