  • The drinking age in a pub in England is 18.
  • In the UK the legal age for purchasing and drinking alchohol is 18 years.
  • You are technically not allowed to drink here in the UK under the age of 18. I have been going out since I was 15 though so you should be ok, u may be ID'd though.
  • Legally, no. Practically you will be able to buy and drink alcohol in most pubs by being confident enough. Food is not required. I've been served in pubs since I was 14, so's my son and most people I know. You'll get refused sometimes, so just go to another pub
  • You can legally drink in a pub or restaurent at 16 if it's with a meal, but this only applies to beers and ciders (I don't know about perry) and someone 18+ must buy it for you. For spirits and wine consumption you need to be 18, the same age you need to be to purchase anything alcoholic. Stolen from Wiki, places to go in Gloucester for cider - Cafe Rene, Marylone, off Southgate, Gloucester GL1 1TP (01452 309340): pub website Three draught ciders: Moles Black Rat, Thatchers Farmer's Tipple and Thatchers Cheddar Valley. Outstanding pub and informal restaurant with an unobtrusive French theme. All dim lighting, oak beams and walls lined with wine bottles. Good value food. Free wifi. The pub is tucked away down a back alley - pass through the church arch opposite the Golden Cross pub. Dick Whittington's, 100 Westgate Street, Gloucester GL1 2PE (01452 502039) Janet's Jungle Juice. Comfortable modern but wooden-beamed pub with a good reputation for its ales. Average food. Fountain Inn, 53 Westgate Street, Gloucester GL1 2NW (01452 522562): pub website Westons Traditional Scrumpy on handpump (plus Stowford Press). Warm, carpeted pub - a very relaxing place to while away the day. Simple but appetising food (curly chips, cheesy omelettes, and the like) Imperial Inn, 59 Northgate Street, Gloucester GL1 2AG (01452 529918) Thatchers Cheddar Valley. Lovely old-fashioned frontage leads into a basic boozer. New Inn Hotel, 16 Northgate Street, Gloucester GL1 1SF (01452 522177): pub website Moles Black Rat. "The finest example of a medieval galleried inn to be seen in Britain today", or so claims its website; it's certainly a very attractive building, though the bar itself is a pub much like any other. Right in the centre of town. Old Bell, 9a Southgate Street, Gloucester GL1 1TG (01452 332993): pub website Thatchers. First-floor pub/restaurant with live music in the evenings. 17th century in origin but it has long since vacated the ground floor. The Regal, 33 St Aldate St, Gloucester GL1 1RP (01452 332344) Moles Black Rat, Westons Old Rosie and Westons Organic Vintage all on draught, plus Wetherspoons' usual range of bottles (Thatchers Perry, etc.). This converted cinema is a curious hybrid of the usual Wetherspoons and their music/TV Lloyds No 1 chain. The 60s-style signage outside has been retained - a nice touch. You could also check out the CAMRA website and search for Gloucester or Gloucestersire. As long as you behave yourself, no-one will really mind you drinking here 'under age'. Sorry for the over-long answer, and hope you enjoy your visit. :)
