Taken from IMDB: Bruce Willis grew up mainly in Penns Grove, New Jersey, and graduated from high school there before going to New York to become an actor. He waited tables and tended bar for a living until he began to get roles in plays. While tending bar one night he was seen by a casting director who liked his personality and needed a bartender for a small movie role.

Bruce Willis was born in West Germany, on a military base. His father later was discharged from the military and the family moved to New Jersey. In highschool, Bruce was involved in student council (president) and the drama club. His first taste of acting was in highschool, doing stage plays. Then Bruce Willis's life went in many directions. First working at Dupont, then into working at bars, then to a bodyguard and even playing in a R&B group called Loose Goose (Bruce played the harmonica). Acting was in his blood, and he enroled on a drama program at Montclair State University. Bruce Willis made his professional debut in an off-broadway production of 'Heaven & Earth'. It wasn't long after that that Bruce at the age of 30 became a star in the TV show Moonlighting.

Correction: Bruce Willis was never a member of the band, Loose Goose. Willis was best friends with the lead singer and harmonica player, Bruce DiMattia and sometimes hired the band to do concerts in Penns Grove, New Jersey.
