Here is a tip: Give a plus or minus point and then it will show where you rate the question :o)

Worzel makes a good point about rating the questions on ones that you answer. that's how I usually tell. I've come across questions that I had answered ages ago, and almost answered again but then I noticed I had rated answers already and realized I had already answered it.
-
I made it a habit of rolling the cursor over the +/- points buttons. It will say "points given" and I know I've answered it already.

I don't think the ratings thing will work because 1) you might not have rated that question for some reason 2) you might have rated it but not answered it. I think dimming the question or something like that would be fantastic. We've asked about it before but I think it's too difficult a fix to do, as of yet.

Look at the answers in your profile to see what you have already answered.

answer the question a second time, so what, it isnt a problem with anyone.

It could be an interesting feature. On the other hand, as long as there are no more than 3 pages of answers, it is quite easy to go through the answers to check out if you have already answered. Actually, it is always a good thing to go through the answers to a question, because you can see what other people have answered, you can rate them and you could also find out that everything has already been said and that you could not say it better, so you would not need answering. If you don't have the slightest remembrance of having answering a question, maybe you could also give a new and interesting answer.
-
If you always rate the question you answer then you will automatically know. And if you are one of those people that doesn't like to give points or you run out of points for some people and can't give them more and need to mark that you've answered the question, chose either the "Conversational or Educational?" and then you will also know you answered it.

I rate the question to serve as a reminder that I have already answered it. It does not always work though. I have answered one of Zack's questions twice because the first time I answered it, I had run out of points for him.
