Help answer this question below.
I have seen this before. What you have is called a "short to power". When you push on the brake pedal you are powering up the brake lights. The power from the brake lights is also powering up another circuit (prob. the running light wire which it shouldn't do). This could be a wire rubbed though, a light socket tang bent over, or salt tracking (the last one is unlikely). The easiest way to find the problem is to keep your brake pedal pressed down with a piece of wood etc. and start unplugging things from the brake light circuit starting at the back untill you see the front/dash lights go out too. When this happens you should have a pretty good idea of where the problem is. Now you will need to hunt for the problem at that location.
Have you had your vehicle rewired lately? Or had some work done to it???
It sounds like you may have some wires crossed or have an electrical short somewhere. Take it to your local Auto Zone or a store equal to it and tell one of the customer service people behind the counter what is going on. They have a device they can take out to your car and plug in under the dash, (for free), and it will run a diagnostics test. The device will produce a code number. From that code number they will tell you what could be going on with your car.

You're reading Why do the dash board lights and front running lights go on when I put my foot on the brakes of my 95 Miata? This happens when no other lights are on.
