Mount St. Helens is the one that blew up on May 18, 1980, but Mt. Rainier is the most photographed volcano in the state and often used as a symbol of Washington. Mount Rainier at over 14,000 feet tall can be seen from Seattle, whereas Mt. St. Helens can't be seen from many places - especially now that her top is gone.
