Several of my friends have died from lung cancer, and they all played the saxophone. Could the instrument have been at fault?

    Did they smoke? and if your friends played in bars a lot they could have taken in a lot of second hand smoke.

    Not unless they were playing a sax made with lots of lead in the mouth piece. Even then I think it would be a stretch. Its like asking if people who ride in pink cars are more likely to die in car accidents. You don't breath in the sax.

    What could be more likely is, because of their ability to draw in more to their lungs they get more from smoking than most people. Even with that, the sax is not a health hazard. It makes your lungs healthier.
