Dr. Benjamin Spock's most notable work is "The Common Sense Book of Baby and Child Care." Originally published in 1946, it has gone through seven editions, been translated into 39 languages, and has sold more than than 50 million copies. An instant success with post-war Baby Boom parents, Dr. Spock's book has probably had more impact on our ideas about parenting than anything else in the 20th century.
