Help answer this question below.
Winnig percentage including ties is calculated as such:
each win is worth 2 pts
each tie is worth 1 pt
each loss is worth 0 pts
if you have a team that has 5 wins 0 losses and 1 tie for a 11 pts that teams winning percentage would be .917
5 wins x 2 pt = 10
1 tie x 1 pt = 1
total = 11
take the total # of pts in this case 11 and divide that by the number of games played times 2 in this case (6 x 2 = 12) then divide the number of pts against the number of games played times 2
11 / 12 = .917
with a tie it counts as .5 win and .5 loss
So if there is a 10 game schedule and the team won 7 games and tied 1 and lost 2 the winning percentage would be calcuated as follows
add .5 to the wins and .5 to the losses. Multiple 7.5 times 100 then devide by the number of games. The winning percentage would be .750
I should have been more specific. How do you calculate winning percentage when including tie games.
The winning percentage is the number of games won divided by the total number of games played. If you have won 3 games of 5 played, 3 divided by 5 = .600, or 60%.
